What is fentanyl?

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is commonly prescribed by doctors to treat and manage severe cases of pain. It is typically given to patients after major surgeries, or to individuals who are diagnosed with cancer. While its intended use is beneficial, fentanyl is addictive and the risk of overdose is very real.
