American Indian Council on Alcoholism’s services are open to American Indian individuals and others residing within American Indian households throughout the greater Milwaukee area. American Indian Council is here to help on your path to recovery and wellness. Our staff of state-certified clinical substance abuse counselors and helpers are here to assist with information, assessment, counseling, education and referral services. Our person-centered approach and confidential environment creates an atmosphere where our clients can focus on creating their best selves.
Recovery support meetings for American Indian men and women take place every Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Community outreach and education help to build awareness of the dangers and impacts of substance misuse as well as the services available through our agency. American Indian Council on Alcoholism is available to our community through a variety of means both on and off site.
American Indian Council on Alcoholism is active in community education and the exchange of knowledge at resource fairs, special events or through virtual or in-person presentations to a variety of audiences including professionals, youth, adults and community. Session topics include the diverse effects of alcohol, substance use and dependence.
Wellness topics on mental health, grief, goal setting, anxiety and the aging brain plus how they all intersect with substances are also available. Presentations can be tailored to meet individual needs and requests. Online courses are also available on our website.
The staff of American Indian Council are knowledgeable about a variety of substance use, prevention, brain health and mental health related topics as they impact schools, community and workplaces. We are ready to assist with our free consultation services.
Consultation services can be provided on an individual or small group basis to facilitate understanding of the recovery process, grief support, or other topics related to wellness.

Our social and recreational prevention activities are designed to build resilience, connection and self-esteem while nurturing our cultural identities as American Indian people. Connection and fun without the use of substances is the focus of our multi-generational prevention programs.

Learning and practicing arts is a pathway to personal healing and connection to culture. American Indian Council offers the opportunity for connection through learning the art of Iroquois Raised Beadwork. Facilitated by an award-winning artist, beginner to advanced students will enjoy the time to socialize with fellow beaders while making cultural connections.
Beading Classes are held monthly.
