Frontal Lobe
X
The frontal lobe controls many things and is really the boss of our brain! Thinking, planning, solving problems, and making decisions are all part of the frontal lobe’s work. It also shapes our personality - who we are, how we act, and what we feel.
Parietal Lobe
X
Have you ever wondered how you can think in 3D? Well, the parietal lobe does just that. It helps us understand the space around us so we know how far to reach for our favorite toy, or how to keep from running into something. Not only that, the parietal lobe helps us make sense of reading, writing, and numbers.
Occipital Lobe
X
The occipital lobe is dedicated to how you see things. Every day, you collect information about shapes, colors, and movement - all through your eyes! The occipital lobe allows you to understand what you are seeing.
Temporal Lobe
X
The temporal lobe helps you understand and remember what you see and hear. The temporal lobe is active while you listen to music, visit family and friends, and have a conversation. That’s why you can remember the words to your favorite songs, or recognize a friend you haven’t seen in years!
Cerebellum
X
The cerebellum can be found at the back of your brain. It controls your balance, movement and coordination. Without the cerebellum, you wouldn’t even be able to stand up straight without falling over!
Brain Stem
X
The brain stem connects your brain to the spinal cord. It is in charge of making sure you can breathe, digest food, and keep blood moving through your body. The brain stem also controls your involuntary muscles - these muscles work without you even having to think about them!
